PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This CME activity seeks to help pharmacists and pharmacy technicians explain the ramifications of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and its symptoms in the elderly by reviewing the clinical trials evaluating recently approved and emerging RSV vaccines with various mechanisms of action. This program will also explore those tactics in clinical practice to educate older adults on RSV prevention and mitigate bias in care.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This activity is specifically designed for U.S.-based pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Explain the impact of RSV disease and the clinical symptoms it presents in the older adult population
  • Analyze data obtained from clinical trials evaluating recently approved and emerging RSV vaccines, which employ various mechanisms of action, for their suitability in older adults
  • Integrate tactics within clinical practice to educate older adults on RSV prevention and mitigate inequities in care
