PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This series focuses on understanding and treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), with a special emphasis on veterans. Participants will explore the burden and epidemiology of PTSD, the neurobiology underlying the disorder, and current treatment approaches, including pharmacological and psychotherapeutic options. The program will also cover best practices for using validated screening tools and trauma-informed care in clinical evaluations. Additionally, it will review clinical guidelines and emerging therapies for PTSD, equipping clinicians with the knowledge to provide effective, evidence-based care.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The intended audience includes US-based HCPs in the Veterans Health Administration involved in the care of Veteran patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), including primary care clinicians, psychiatrists, and obstetricians/gynecologists.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon the completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Examine the burden and epidemiology of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), with particular focus on PTSD in veterans
- Outline PTSD neurobiology and hypothesized mechanisms underlying treatment approaches (pharmacological and therapeutic)
- Apply best practices for using validated screening tools in assessment of PTSD and trauma-informed approaches to the clinical evaluation of PTSD in primary and specialty care
- Assess evidence and clinical practice guidelines regarding the use of both pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic treatments for PTSD, including emerging and investigational therapies
