PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This activity will help participants to overcome clinical inertia and other potential barriers to timely and appropriate insulin therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes. Participants will be equipped with an enhanced ability to select, titrate and adjust basal insulin regimens, and to successfully educate and empower their patients to self-manage their diabetes.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This educational activity is intended for primary care healthcare professionals (including physicians, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, diabetes educators and pharmacists) who care for patients with diabetes.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon the completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Determine the impact of delayed insulin initiation on patient outcomes
- Personalize the selection of basal insulin therapy based on patients’ clinical characteristics, preferences, and values
- Implement strategies that optimize self-management in patients on insulin
