PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This case-based online enduring activity will cover the treatment and management of patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) who are at high risk for chronic kidney disease.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of Veteran’s affairs physicians and other health care professionals within the Veteran’s affairs system to ensure recognition of CKD risk in patients with T2D, and examine novel strategies for mitigating the risk of CKD and other chronic complications of T2D.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon the completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Understand mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists and differentiated characteristics of agents with novel mechanistic features
- Cite specific data showing reductions in CKD and CV in patients with T2D with novel mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists
- Review strategies for hyperkalemia management in patients receiving mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists
