PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This enduring activity will explore the diagnosis and management of NTM-LD. Whiteboard animations will identify common pitfalls that lead to delays in diagnosis and look at the mechanism of action of novel therapies for refractory disease. A case-based didactic lecture led by expert faculty will review guideline-recommended care, strategies to minimize adverse events, and clinical trial data on newer treatment options.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of pulmonology professionals (including MDs, DOs, NPs, PAs and pharmacists) who have a role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with NTM-LD.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After completing this activity, learners should be better able to:
- Reduce time to diagnosis in patients with suspected NTM-LD
- Individualize treatment selection for patients with NTM-LD in frontline and refractory settings based on clinical guidelines and patient characteristics
- Evaluate the role of amikacin liposome inhalation suspension (ALIS) in the treatment of patients with NTM-LD
- Optimize strategies to avoid and manage the adverse effects of antibiotic therapy in patients with NTM-LD and facilitate the completion of therapy
