PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This activity provides a snapshot of the growing impact of dengue fever in Puerto Rico and strategies for prevention. Featured topics of this program include the burden of dengue fever and clinical trial data of approved and emerging vaccines.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This enduring activity is designed to meet the educational needs of healthcare practitioners who treat pediatric patients, including infectious and tropical disease physicians, physicians volunteering in humanitarian medical missions, general physicians, physician assistants, and pharmacists to ensure confidence in the prevention, recognition, and management of dengue fever.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon the completion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Assess the epidemiology of dengue fever infection in the United States and worldwide, as well as mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate the efficacy and safety of vaccines now available and in late-stage development for the prevention of dengue fever infection.
- Formulate strategies for the differential diagnosis of dengue fever among other tropical diseases.
