PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This live virtual activity will help clinicians reduce the significant delay between onset of symptoms and diagnosis of axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) by identifying patients with inflammatory back pain who should be promptly referred to a rheumatologist for further assessment. Case studies and engaging whiteboard animations on the features of axSpA and the consequences of delays in diagnosis create a memorable and practical learning experience.

This educational activity is specifically designed for US primary care physicians, orthopedists, spine surgeons, physical therapists, chiropractors, and other health care providers who are involved in the care of patients with axial spondyloarthritis.
Learning Objectives
- Differentiate between inflammatory and mechanical back pain and recognize risk factors for axSpA in patients with chronic back pain
- Utilize screening and referral strategies to identify patients with a high probability of axSpA and promptly refer them to a specialist
- Recognize the impact of axSpA and delays in diagnosis on patient quality of life
